Services cancelled 1/25/26

Redemption Fam,

Today the snow reminds us of something we easily forget: God is not limited by a building or a schedule.

Scripture says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
Sometimes stillness is chosen. Sometimes it’s forced on us by things like weather, circumstances, or other things outside our control. Either way, God meets us there.

Ever heard of hygge? Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah, often misspelled as huegue) is a Danish and Norwegian term for a cozy, charming, or special moment. It represents a lifestyle of contentment, taking time away from the daily rush to enjoy life's quieter pleasures by oneself or with loved ones. Right now, we are experiencing Hygge. And sometimes Hygge comes in the form of snowfall and puts a damper on our mobility and other plans… like driving to church.

So with that said, services tomorrow morning are canceled.

Even though we won’t gather in the same room tomorrow, “The Church” is not canceled. The Church is alive in living rooms, around kitchen tables, with bundled-up kids, quiet prayers, and simple moments of rest. God is just as present with you at home with your families or roommates as He is when we’re singing together on a Sunday morning.

So in lieu of services, take a breath. Light a candle. Open Scripture. Pray with your family. Read Scripture.  Rest without guilt. Let the snow slow you down and remind you that God is at work—even when plans change. And as the snow falls softly and quietly on the ground around you, creating the hygge effect, reflect on how the grace of God has fallen softly and quietly on your life in the last 6 months. God is good, all the time. Recount the ways God has been good in the last 6 months of your life. Surely, those moments will outnumber the snowflakes that have hit the ground around you.

We’ll gather again soon. Until then, stay safe, stay warm, and remember:
The same God who meets us in crowds also meets us in quiet.

With love,

Pastor Cory

"Just like you, I have an origin story. I grew up in a family that was passionate about Ohio State football, Jesus, and the Church. In some ways, it was the default “Ohioian American” experience. At a Christian music festival just before turning thirteen, I made the decision to follow Jesus. In the years after accepting Jesus, I went on to pursue an undergrad degree in Student Ministry, and I am close to completing a Master of Arts in Theology.

When I was at that music festival as a teenager, standing in the midst of 15,000 people, I never dreamt I would one day start a church in Kirkwood, Missouri for... you. Redemption is a church that exists to welcome those who have struggled to feel welcomed in a church. If you have ever felt that, then Redemption is for you. Welcome, we’re glad you’re here."
